Dear Mr Goh,
Warmest CNY greetings to you and your family and I hope this email finds you well as good people like you will have peace you dwell in safety.
I don’t normally have a habit of going public but now feel compelled to do so as I want to draw your attention to the plight of average Singaporeans at the hands of their foreign superiors. My son’s case is only one of many.
He is working for Vive Cafe by Sodexo Singapore under his employment-pass Filipino manager who sat on applying for a NEA licence for 3 months before finally being uncovered during a routine inspection.
So the first instinct of the NEA officer concerned, who was also very arrogant by the way, is to find a scapegoat as he claims he cannot “book” a foreigner.
My son’s other senior Filipino colleague secured long-term social visit after marrying immediately following her husband’s divorce with a local.
Hence, like AHPETC and their unfortunate “tenants”/family members who only wanted to add to festivities, now have to attend court and pay summons like my son (Notice No: 20ECR1400002).
What really pisses me off currently that will inch to my memory till polling day, is the proposed support for more such FTs to add on to our misery.
Contrary to what PM said during the NTU ministerial forum, I believe we will be much better off than “sorry” if all these people were to be sent packing.
As a pioneer, I can attest that we never had problems on a massive scale during the Lee Kuan Yew government.
Presently, every legislation passed is only either for PR purposes or ends up as another “white elephant”. Companies out there like my son’s have already caught up with the so called “tightening of foreign labour” by “hiring” others’, hired by employment
agencies or dummy companies and posting them there.
My son’s company also has an unusually high concentration of Filipino “senior bar” S Pass managers who do butler jobs. This proves they can well afford any raising of fees.
I went to see my Marine Parade GRC MP on this issue and her letters to NEA have not been responded up to now while her former petitions to PSC (PSD/PSC/D/3.3.01 V13) to recover my son’s lapsed CPF contributions from his employer, were ineffective with PSC saying they have no power to intervene but is still able to dismiss Mr Ng Boon Gay from public service.
This brings to mind what Mr Lim Siong Guan said that whether or not the public service is strong and good will depend on “political leadership”.
Mr Baey Yam Keng mentioned PAP scored 6/10, what do you think?
P.S. My son has since lost his job following this incident as the bank suspended their contract with his company. While his other Filipino colleagues have secured good postings recommended by his Filipino manager, my son remains in limbo with his company not having paid his salary, OT and other allowances from November 2013 despite him being a confirmed staff.
Yours faithfully,
Mdm Tan
