Dear Mr Chan,
I am writing to request for aid as I will soon be unable to work due to various prevailing illnesses of both my husband and I.
We are struggling to make ends meet and will be parting ways with our children due to housing arrears that forced us to sell our 5-room HDB and the great difficulties in obtaining HDB relenting help. The HDB is by far, the most unsympathetic agency to be dealing with as is the momentum the country is currently proceeding.
While the pioneer generation package sounds noble if you are 65 years and above but is divisive when you are below. It also emits the wrong signal that the sacrifices of nation building are only restricted up to 1949 and not 1950-1965 (pre 65ers). It is further disheartening only 1 politician got it right by stating that every generation is a “pioneer generation” whose sacrifices must be borne in mind even as the nation’s political leaders raise their AI and draw on taxpayers’ bonuses.
My application for the blue CHAS card has not been approved even after I met up with the MSW of Pasir Ris polyclinic a long time ago. What appears on every pamphlet of MOH boasting on how easy it is to obtain the card is in actual fact, a far cry from it. Even when one is perceived to have met their criteria on print, they will make things difficult by disapproving applications and requesting for CPF statements/Medical reports later on for ‘justification’. These are all not conveyed to you at application point so most give up after initial application.
I hope that reading my predicament in present society after my ancestors arrived here 500 years back, you will render help accordingly, Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
Mdm Conceicao Patricia
