Dear TRS,
I am shocked by the lack of help that my son's school is providing to look after my son who recently suffered multiple fractures on his arm because he was pushed down by a school bully.
Initially, I was told by the school that he had fallen down and injured himself but my son was very scared and when I asked him again what happened, he told me that a bully had pushed him down.
When my son was injured, he wasn't able to move his arm at all but the school didn't send him to hospital, they just called me and I had to take him there myself!
I had to foot the bill of about $100 and then afterward, the school acted like they just wanted to move on from the incident.
This is not the first time that my son has been bullied by this boy, my son has complained about him at least 4 times before.
When I asked the school to give me the contact details of the bully's parents so that we could work on a resolution, they refused. They said that they do not usually give the contact details of other parents.
The only reason I want to contact them is so that they are aware that their son is causing my son so much grief and so that they can do something about it because the school is obviously not doing enough.
I don't really want monetary compensation or anything, I just want my son to be safe in school.
I'm sure that school bullying is an issue which is not just affecting my son and for me and my son, we were unfortunate enough that it has resulted in a fairly serious injury on my boy's arm.
I hope that other parents out there are aware that this is happening in our schools and sometimes the school doesn't even care enough to work on a proper resolution. They just want to move on!
