Dear The Real Singapore,
Thanks to social media now, Sinkies are no longer as repressed as before when they fact difficulties due to government policy. I grew up in the 1980s where times were good and I have no such trouble, but a recent event has made me so shocked at what is happening nowadays.
So there are 4 people in the operations department and I am the only Singaporean now after my former colleagues have left because of better opportunities. So one Pinoy Asst Manager joined in Feb with another Pinoy (his friend) in May. Then got another Malaysian lady who is PR as she had been with the company for a long time.
The new pinoys would always make sexual harassment jokes, like for example the weather is hot in Singapore so women should dress less like in Pinoy. And all sort of sexual jokes in front of the Malaysian girl. I usually keep quiet as the Pinoy outnumbered me but the Malaysian Girl cannot take it and I feel sorry for her.
So she complain to HR and ask me to be the witness even though the HR manager is Pinoy as well. Of course, all the people were called for an interview but the HR manager they side their own people even though I told them the truth.
However, I am not sure what the pinoy said but then the investigation conclusion is that I was the one making the comments. In fact, I was falsely accused for sexual harassment because of the FTs in my company. The truth is that the ones harassing were FTs (Pinoy) but the HR manager is the compatriot too so I was blamed.
So I ended up seeing the MD for “counselling” and he brought up the problem that I am slow also in handling orders and dispatching them. In the end, he gave me a warning to say that I should not do such things again. Nevermind, what is worse is that the Pinoys who were the perpetuators got away free!!
I haven’t got fired yet but then looking at the number of foreigners who have come in, I think it’s only a matter of time that I get fired as well. Seems like we need to vote the PAP out ASAP otherwise we won’t even have a stake in our own county.
Thanks,
Charles
