Govt wants firms to hire more elderly but makes it more expensive to do so

Dear TRS,

I received the above letter from the CPF board recently and found it rather counter-productive.

The government is always talking about wanting businesses to hire more elderly workers but at the same time they increase the contribution rates for elderly workers making them more expensive to hire.

I understand that the government wants to give elderly workers more savings into their CPF but asking businesses to bear the cost means that they are less willing to hire them in the first place.

Why can't the government bear the costs of providing more for the elderly? I am sure that with their huge soveraign wealth funds the can certainly afford to do so.

What's more, I don't get why we are forced to contribute to help the less needy. Yes, we should help them, but what right does the government have to force us to contribute and to decide how much we much contribute?

It seems like the govenrment is not interested to spend their money to help. Instead they hoard millions into our wealth funds and force citizens to look after themselves.
