“At estates managed by People’s Action Party-run town councils, up to three monthly reminders will be sent to residents who have not paid their service and conservancy charges (S&CC). By the third month, most of the town councils will impose a penalty fee.
Before the penalty fee is imposed though, town council officers will typically visit residents who default on payments to understand their predicament. Advice on financial schemes they can tap, such as ComCare or assistance in job matching, is then dispensed to those who need help.”
I am amazed by such a bold and blatant lie above. Hence, I will demolish and tear this distorted garbage into pieces.
True scenario:
I used to live in a HDB flat managed by PAP TC. My neighbour back then was a family comprising 4 members. Unfortunately, both their children are mentally challenged and the parents both were low wage earners. I know the situation first hand, I witnessed all that. Now, to the point.
The S&CC then was $48/mth and with every month’s non payment within the due period, a penalty would be imposed at $4/- that works out to a fat juicy 8.3 percent.
For my neighbors 3 months of arrears it stood at $48 x 3 ($144) + $4 x 3 ($12) = $156/- So is the penalty imposed only after the 3rd month?
Nobody visited my neighbour throughout to understand their situation, the only visitations were letters of reminder and finally the letter for demand of payment from the law firm.
I don’t know if PAP TCs each operates and manages its affairs differently, but surely the report by TODAY distinctly lacks completeness and professionalism. I can only call it “Cherry Picking Reporting”.
VTO VTO!
