My daughter was on the way out to her friend's house on Eve of Chinese New Year when she met with an accident. She was walking passed the bus stop when she fell into this uncovered drain. The drain is deep, till the height of her knees and she wasn't able to walk for days.
Initially we thought it was a sprain but her foot became swollen and bruised on the second day. We rushed her to a&e and subsquent scans and MRI results showed that she has a fracture and severe damage to her ligament. She has to go for surgery this week to fix her injuries. Doctor said it will take her 3 to 6 months for her to resume back her normal life:
We wrote in to Town Council and to the MPs but the officer from Town Council said it may be due to an act of mischief. But looking around our estate in Jurong West, we can see that the environment isn't well maintain and hazards are everywhere.
Today, we went to Town Council Office to speak to the officer regarding this accident. The officer seemed imexperienced and simply brushed this matter off and asked us to claim our own insurance for the medical treatment while they will investigate on their end. However, they said they can't guarantee that I will get any compensation back. Our Chinese New Year was ruined! We are really at a lost and feel that the words and actions from Town Council has been unjustified. Anyone has similar encounter? Please tell us what we can do?
