Dear TRS, I Feel NEA Should be More Compassionate

Dear TRS,

I am writing in to you to let the public know about what i saw earlier this morning.

I was queuing up for my drinks at a coffeeshop at Shenton way's Shenton House. While i am queuing up, i saw  auxillary police, i think working under NEA, catching people for smoking under a covered walkway.

I understand that with new NEA rules, it is an offence to smoke under covered walkway, however there'a ashtrays there for smokers and a lot of people smoke there too.

That's beside the point.

What i saw is an elderly man, that is being stop by the officers and asking for his NRIC, the elderly man in a cleaner uniform and he is very old, probably in his 60s or 70s. I did not see him holding on to any cigarette and he seems traumatised and scared by them.

I know that it is the officer's duty to fine people that smoke illegally or dispose of cigarette illegally and i am not saying that it is right but sometimes they can be kind enough to close one eye for elderly pioneer generations?

The elderly cleaner looks like he is on the brink of crying and he is pleading with the officers.

Life is already tough for pioneer generations that are old and yet stil having to slog day in and out to survive yet officers have to make his life even worse by slapping him with a $200 fine. It could easily be 1/3 of his salary. I just hope that the $200 fine will not cause the elderly man any difficulties in his daily lives this month and i hope that he will still have enough to eat and feed his family if any.

What happen to humanity? Regards, Disappointed in Humanity.

I've been Abused by my Husband and His Family and Refuse to Suffer in Silence

Dear Friends,

Thank you for being there and giving me support in this domestic violence that me and my son experience yesterday. A lot of u might be wondering what exactly happen.

This is the story...
(Pls share it after you have read. Let others know what kind of barbaric people this bunch of people are...)

My husband and I are undergoing separation. We have been living apart for more than 6 months. Yesterday, at around 10.30am, my MIL open the door of my matrimonial flat and came in with my husband. She came towards me and wanted to carry my 15 months son. My son refused and cling onto me. She grabbed my hands (tts y I suffered bruises at my wrist) and pull my hand away from my son and insisted carrying my son. My son refused to be carried by her. When she grab my hand, I shouted at her to let go of my hand. I tried to fling her hand away from mine but she kept grabbing my hand. I walked away from her towards the storeroom to get bubble gun to play with my son. When I came out of the storeroom, she grab my hand again. I verbally warn her that if she continues, I'm gg to call the police. She actually said ok go ahead and call the police. I called the police.

While waiting for the police to arrive, she shouted to my husband to call my FIL who is downstairs to come up. When my FIL came in, he dashed towards me and shouted "I'm gg to bring my grandson home to play, wat can u do?" I told him he has no rights to do so. He proceeded to pulling my son's arm. I told him to stop it but he refused. My son was crying in pain. My FIL proceeded to pushing me to the ground with my son in my arm. Both my MIL and FIL cornered me. They started pulling my hair, kicked me in the abdomen, hitting me all this while with my son in my arms. I had to use my body to shield my boy.

My husband stood there all this while watching all this. He did not even said a word to stop them or try to protect his own son.

To my husband: " u killed ur wife and ur son"

After a few minutes of repeated kicks and punches, my FIL instigated my husband to lock the door. When I heard him shout "lock the door!" I dashed as quickly as I can hoping the gate would not be locked. Thank god the gate was not locked. While trying to open the gate, they continue multiple punches and kicks at my back. I shield my son and ran to my neighbour to call for help. My neighbour were nice people and they took me and my son in.

This kind of violence is not to be tolerated. I don wan to suffer in silence. Because it's a domestic violence, I can only file for PPO. What bout the fear and injuries me and my son suffered? Is there no justice at all?

These people stay at 68 jalan chempaka kuning. They are rich people who thinks because they have money, they can do this kind of things.

To mummies out there who suffers physical assault from family member, u r not alone.

Below r the people (my FIL, my MIL, my husband) who assaulted me. I will never forgive u. Remember, in life, There's this thing called retribution.

MyRepublic's 1Gbps Fibernet Speed Claims are Rubbish

$

0

Dear The Real Singapore,

I am writing as a victim of MyRepublic 1Gbps subscriber and hope there are some fellow Singaporean are facing the same issue as me.

I have signed up MyRepublic for almost a year now, recently for the past few months, especially at night from 9pm - 11pm, my connection speed is slow or sometime I can't do speedtest. I have lodge complaint a couple of times, and in the end they did send someone down twice.

Let me explain the first case, so when the guy came down and he tested on his laptop, my connection speed is fine, than he say must be my PC's problem, I did not set my PC to MAXIMUM POWER USAGE, thus causes the internet speed is slow. Fine, I listen to him and adjust my PC to MAX, and it came alive again. I thought is really my PC issue, so I acknowledge it. After the guy left, the same problem arise than I call them up again, I ask my friend who is using the same PC and router and same service provider. He told me he did not face the same issue and don't need to set my PC to the MAX also can achieve best result. So now is what? I felt like being cheated by the technician and he is trying to con me like an idiot.

So I call the hotline again, I explain to them this situation, I told them i did not adjust any setting ever since the last technician came, than now they ask me did I upgrade my router software? I said I didn't do it and so I download the upgrade the software,  and it works OK for a few days. Now the problem arise. I was so fed up, I call them up and they said will ask the technician down to my place and check.

In the end, the technician came down last Saturday to check on the devices, he used his own laptop and something to check on my ONT, there is nothing wrong, so I ask him why I can't connect or have internet at night? He can't answer, he said will feedback to his backend team and they will resolve my issue.

Today, i received message via Facebook, he taught me a few thing to make sure I got connection, below is his conversation:

MR: We'll do a controlled test. Under the router page, use traffic manager, and limit the QOS speed to 100,000kbps
MR: We're focusing on performance now, not maximum speed. This QOS will prevent any device in the network from hogging the bandwidth.
MR: There is a very rare chance that a faulty device can block traffic. Limiting the QOS to 100,000 kbps (100Mbps) will confirm this.
Me: so what you need me to do? (That was during office hour where I am still working)
MR: once you're home, access your router by typing 192.168.1.1 in your browser from there there's a button called traffic manager. set the QOS limit to 100,000 kbps
MR: This will prevent any faulty device from exceeding 100Mbps if it does hog traffic

So once I reached home and settled down, I followed his method and do

Me: So after I have done the QOS? (Plus a screenshot of the PC)
Me: So what is the next step?
Me: Why my speed so slow? (

I did a speedtest and my result for download is ONLY 222.32Mbps

MR: Did you set QoS to 200Mbps? Do surf and see if performance improves
MR: If it does, then there's a chance one device in your network is taking up your network bandwidth. QoS will prevent it from taking anything more than the limit which you set at 200Mbps

Fine, I change again, now my download speed is ONLY 210.27Mbps

Tags:
Wrap Text field:

Me: So what next?
MR: use the internet!
Me: Using now and so
MR: download, upload, game, stream. see if there's a performance improvement
Fine, i went to download something, it very slow
MR: if you face performance issues like last time, take down the date and time. collect a few sample of timing when the performance is bad.
Me: (at the moment I was so fed up and ask them) Come on.. How long do I need to do that? Can u explain why your network so lousy in the first place? I dun get such issue when I am using other provider, only when I sign up with you got all sort of problem
MR: I have been explaining to you that there could be a faulty device in your network, or someone is taking up all the traffic. Using QoS limit will confirm this if your performance improves. Our side backend testing shows no interference so the bottleneck happens in your house
Me: So now u all blame on the consumer.. The best provider I ever met..
MR: It's not blaming. I have guided you to a controlled testing and if the result improves, it confirms the suspicion.
Me: How do I know if my condition has improve?
MR: you should be able to surf and game without intermittent disconnection
Me: Ya, but I pay for 1gbs and not 200mbps, is 5x different, can I get 5 times discount?
MR: that's not how internet works. you need to find which device in your network is eating up 1Gbps. with 200Mb limit now you can get consistent internet for up to 5 devices. 5 device x 200 Mb is 1Gb

When this sentence came out, I am total freak out, I really want to shoot this question back to them. How come on weekend daytime i have more than 10 devices connected to my router, I still get a very fast speed, and only at night where I have only 4 devices connected to my router and I get lousy connection. So what is this rational from this guy? Does he know what he is trying to say? I felt cheated, I didn’t sign up for a internet service that give me only 200Mbps, I paid for 1Gbps speed and yet your marketing or brochures say "fastest Speed". You can say technically they are not wrong, but it would be unfair for them to cheat customer and said they have the fastest speed! Isn’t this a consider cheating since they did not fulfil their promises to the customer.  I’ve since called and emailed to MyRepublic to demand for free termination of service application without paying any penalty since they can't promise what they suppose to give and they said "Hi Freddo, you can terminate your contract at myservice@myrepublic.com.sg. Unfortunately, according to our protocols, we wouldn't be able to absorb the penalty of the 16 months you have left on your contract. ^Eki.

I am utterly disappointed with MyRepublic for using such low handed sales gimmick to trick current customers. So for future customer, make sure you go for the RIGHT service provider, and don't let them cheat you by saying they are the fastest.

Singaporean gets Repeatedly Rejected by HDB and his PAP MP for a Flat

[Letter sent to MPs Lee Li Lian and Lina Chiam]

An appeal for a flat in Buangkok Sq / Edgeview

Dear Mdms,

I am writing to you as I have no other alternatives after repeated rejections from HDB to my MP Lawrence Wong’s petitions.

Some of the replies were also extremely rudely worded and I was shocked by Mr Wong’s apathy too.

The crux of the problem lies with my wedlock son and the HDB saying that my blood relation sister does not form a proper family nucleus with myself. They said they could only reconsider if my mother (who lives with my bro in a small flat) passes away. I feel this is cursing us.

I have had to fork out $565 monthly to DBS (as my CPF is depleted) or my flat will be repossessed by them. Panic, I worked overtime for years in a row until I got sick and specialist at NUH advised that I go for operation but I refused as that would mean another tier of added hardships.

I cannot comprehend the problem as my sister and I are not asking for welfare because we can both afford the flat jointly but the government which claims to be listening to the people keeps deliberately making things difficult for us through their agencies.

In view of this untenable situation we are constantly facing, I hope you can kindly make representations on our behalf.

Yours faithfully,

Dear TRS,

I am shocked with the level of care at KK hospital and want to share what happened to my wife.

Day 1. 09/03

My wife was refer to kkh O&G, and was send to kkh delivery suite on 09/03 at 10.15pm. Due to heartbeat 140bpm and high fever (39.4). 3 doctors visited my wife at the delivery suite, 3.5 hours no medication given to my wife for her fever only wet tissue to place on forehead until 12.45am medication give to my wife (this may cause my wife life or my baby life). Heartbeat 120bmp doctor said my wife is able to discharge! We insist to be warded, finally 1 of the doctor found out something not right with my wife and she agree to let her warded and she was warded on 1.30am.

Doctors report for that night,

1) 3 doctors visited my wife but only 2 doctor wrote on the report. The doctor who mention that my wife can discharge while her heartbeat rate is 120bpm did not write any report!

2) Medication was given on 10.30pm ( Not Ture )

3) We refuse to be Warded ( Not Ture )

Day 2 10/03

In the morning, my wife on high fever, doctor mention to my wife "lucky you did not discharge last night"

Afternoon when i reach, i ask the junior doctor for update. His reply was blood infraction and still under observation.

Night time doctor update me that my wife was given antibiotics and need observation for 24hours.

Remarks: Night time high fever

Day 3 11/03

Morning update from junior doctor: no fever, under observation, antibiotics given and need to be observe for the next 5 days. My question: is my wife so serious to be under 5 days observation? What wrong with my wife? His reply: not sure still diagnosing.. i request to let my wife discharge since she has no fever at that time and normal heartbeat. he can't make the decision, so i request to speak to senior doctor who can make the decision. that was on 11.30am.

Afternoon 2.30pm i speak to him again, answer given was no from senior doctor for my wife to discharge. i request to speak to senior doctor.

3.30pm i request to speak to senior doctor from him again.

5.30pm i raise my voice at him. i really very piss off at that moment, due to no answer given from him and i have been waiting to speak to a senior doctor since 11.30am!! My question : why she is able to discharge on day 1 when her heartbeat is 120bmp and now everything back to normal but cannot discharge?? no answer given from him. i just want a answer and what cause her to have fever, what so difficult??

5.45pm finally the 2nd senior doctor came, she updated me.. finally i got what i want to know. My wife is having urinary tract infection (尿道感染) that cause her fever. she also mention that they are not specially for infection and they request tan tock seng specially to come and take a look on my wife situation on the next day.

Remarks: Night time high fever

Day 4 12/03

Morning tan tock seng specially came, my wife was diagnose with kidney infection (肾感染)!!! And tan tock seng specially told my wife that he is here for 2 reason.
reason 1: to check on her situation
reason 2: to mark sure kkh did the right things...

To me this is no joke!!! kidney infection (肾感染) will this cause kidney failure??

Afternoon when i reach, i went to kkh business office, request to speaker to service quality team.

My Questions for service quality team.

1) 3 doctors visited my wife,When only 2 doctors wrote on the report

2) What if the report miss out is important or may cause someone life or even 2 life???

3) Why doctor allow my wife to discharge when her heartbeat is 120bmp?

4) Why day 1 blood infection, day 2 urinary tract infection and day 3 kidney infection.

5) Why didn't TTS specially call in since day 1 when she is having blood infection.

6) Is the doctors in kkh doing experiment on my wife?

7) should pay so much for the bill? it seen like doctors is doing experiment.

8) why am i receiving different update from different doctor?

9) is my wife suffering from kidney infection since day 1 or due to late treatment?

I also request from service quality team, no more treatment by junior or trainee doctors for my wife!
It will take 2 weeks for the service quality team to investigate
When i reach the ward i question the 2nd senior doctor, day 3 is urinary tract infection why today become kidney infection (肾感染) what next?? How come now become kidney infection (肾感染)!! her reply: urinary tract infection (尿道感染) and kidney infection (肾感染) is the same!!! And she expect my to accept it!!!

how to accept it??? to me a non medical person urinary tract (尿道) and kidney (肾) how can it be the same??? i raise my voice at her to demand a high ranking doctor explain to me.
15min later 2 high ranking senior doctor came with a nurse manager, they explain to me the cause of the kidney infection (肾感染). It was cause be the urinary tract infection (尿道感染) due to my wife body did't show a sign of urinary tract infection (尿道感染), that's why it take longer time to diagnose as compare to others. so the infection travel up to kidney (肾). They also update me on the treatment plan which they had consult KKT Specially. i also inform the that i dun't want any junior or trainee doctors to treatment my wife.

Day 5 13/03

Afternoon update from nurse manager: blood test for blood taken on day 2 11/03 result show that new infection start to grow on my wife blood. will be giving my wife 2nd type of antibiotics.

Day 6 14/03

Morning update from nurse manager: KKT Specially ask to remove the 2nd type of antibiotic. Laboratory lab from kkh also confirm that the blood test result Credibility is not high!!! KKT Specially also mention that he did not want any junior doctor to update him only senior doctor do so... i really dun't know what is going on!!!
Afternoon Nurse manager and 3 senior attend to my wife due to they realise something wrong with her right hand which was on drips at the moment as it is swollen badly and it may cause infection. As far as their concern, they recommend her to change the drips to left hand. but before the can do so, they will need to consult the doctor. The doctor came, she press on the swollen hand and ask her is the any pain. My wife dun't feel any pain and the doctor told the senior nurses that she dun't need a change because there wasn't any pain.. they nurses look so surprise to me, they then ask the doctor to write a black n white for them to file in.

Tags:
Wrap Text field:

At the end my wife still choice to believe the senior nurse then the doctor.

Is the doctor waiting for things to happen??

Day 7 15/03

Night time. things happen is shown on the video: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=958850184160149&set=vb.416856241692...

They tried to change the drip but did something wrong and a whole lot of blood came splurting out. My wife's hand was covered completely in blood and it was pouring out of her.

Everyone at the scene know that my wife is really in deep pain, as her lips turn white within seconds. trust me really very pain.. when the doctors arrive my wife cry and beg to leave her alone, she wanted to go back home with me!! she told the doctor, she dun't want any more dips. Yes i wanted to bring her to other hospital too, i really very upset with the service giving by kkh.

Day 8 16/03

1.10am i post the video on my FB.

Morning My wife doctor incharge finally come which i did not see before for the past 7 days. he feel sorry to what has happen to my wife. he explain on day 7 issue that even some senior doctor may not do it perfect. i agree with him, but what make that junior doctor think that she can do so??? after all i still revised my right to pursue..
Doctor report on that afternoon: on things to do, medication injection to be given to treat my wife swollen legs due to long time on drips.
At night i post the video on kkh fb.

Day 9 17/03

Morning service quality team send someone to talk to me to solve the issue on their level.. at the same time doctors did their daily check on my wife and realise that the injection was not given on Day 8, my wife told me that the doctor question the nurse "if no need to inject i write down for what".
Is all the above mistake that my wife had face in kkh enough to complain or enough to cause a person life???

Five Reasons Why I Hate Living in Punggol

$

I mean the word hate is a bit strong but it is really not easy for a person to stay in Punggol after spending most of his life staying in Tampines where we have everything.

So I've shifted to Punggol (not so)recently. New neighbourhood, nice neighbours, nice waterway and fresher air too but not everything is a bed of roses in Punggol.

Me and my awesome Neighbours. My friends are always very jealous that I can actually have neighbours that I hangout. it's like fairytale to him.

There are things that i cannot stand and I just have to say it! (And also our election is around the corner ah, so I hope big brother is reading this too.) #NotEvenSorryIfISoundLikeASpoiltBrat

1. Lack Of A Decent "Interchange"

Image from www.panoramio.com

I grew up at Bedok and later spend most of my life in Tampines. We are used to the pattern where we go to school/work, we go back to our "interchange", buy the things we need, have dinner or a coffee and we go back home. This place is usually few bus stops or minutes away from our home. It is almost like a town square where we hangout and run some of our errands.

It sucks that we are living out of that pattern now because there ain't a decent shopping mall above Punggol MRT station. Now we knock off, do everything and anything out side of Punggol and than we have to travel half of Singapore before we reach Punggol. And once we reach Punggol, it means go to bed and good night. Maybe that is also the town plan where we are force to be bored and do nothing but make babies.

2. There are NO Taxi

Punggol is a God forsaken place. There are no Taxi at any point of time. Grab Taxi, Uber, Taxi Taxi or whatever app you have. They will not save your life. Ask @GenkiGenki he knows. LRT and MRT is so much better!

3. No Friends will visit you

You can have a good sofa but you will not have friends.

I used to have friends visiting me almost always. We hangout at my mum's place and we dream about the boardgame nights, movie nights, console night, beer night, poker night or stayovers when it is our own place but NO. Nobody will come to your place unless it is one of those events that they had to show face. Punggol is just way too far for anyone and for some reason there is lack of parking. Not just about free parking but most of our parking in Punggol are like reserved for residents only and your friends and relatives have to park way too far in order to visit you.

4. The Food Sucks

Probably because this place is so young we do not have any anchor food hawker that has 20 years history like in Geylang, Tampines, Bedok etc. We do not have a big mall that have big chain restaurants. The food at our food court and hawker really sucks. The best thing in Punggol is like McDonald's and Master Crab. That is how bad it is. And my favourite Dominoes Pizza doesn't even make delivery to Punggol. FugMyLife! P.S. Punggol Nasi Lemak not even found in Punggol BTW!

5.  STUPID ROAD NAMES!

Tags:
Wrap Text field:

I still get lost in Punggol after staying there for 2 years. I mean what is wrong with Punggol Ave 3, 4, 5? Punggol St 21, 22, 23, 24? I mean it makes more sense that after 23 is 24 as compared to Punggol Field, Punggol Central, Punggol Emerald and why is EdgeField Plains doing in the middle of all the other Punggol road names? Why are we complicating the road names so badly when it can be so simple in a matter of just using some numbers? As if being far, not having parking ain't a bad enough reason for people not to come to Punggol and now you want people to get lost and pissed off with coming to Punggol?

------------------------------------------------------------------------

All these being said, we had little choice considering how crowded the country is and resale flats are just way too expensive. I am just glad my wife and I managed to get one of these BTO before the mad demand in HDB and causing the price hike. Okay, end of rant.

Ladies Please Be Careful of Perverts Like This in the MRT!

Dear TRS,

Please Share!!

Wanted to share this video (taken between Bishan and Ang Mo Kio) I took earlier today at peak hours coming back from work.

See the video here: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=959638330748001

This pervert is pushing his dick back and forth to this poor lady's back side.

Before I saw him doing this to this girl, I felt he tried to do it to me but I am so sensitive and notice someone bumped my butt and I glanced around.

When I glance my eyebrow's raised as there is enough space to move so don't know why he bumped my butt so I just move a bit away and was facing the opposite direction but because of his armpit odor I moved another step away from him and this time I have to turn and face the door side as I am going down to the next station which is Ang Mo Kio.

Then I notice this pervert is pushing back and forth his pants area to this girl's butt and the girl didn't mind it as I think she thought it is so crowded behind her.

At first I thought maybe they were couple coz the guy is even hanging both his hand on handrail exactly just above the poor girl's head but he does that so he can easily do his dirty game so I tried to tell to my sister who is so busy watching video from her phone.

When I told my sister, the guy move away so I thought he won't do it again but he moved to do it with another girl and this time I can't hold back my anger wanted to shout and embarrass him so I told my sis I will ask him to back off and move as there is enough space. But my sis warn me say 'what if he will hit you'. So I only take a video instead.

When I start filming him he came back to the same girl. I was not able to take the whole incident and the video end when mrt open at ang mo kio.

At ang mo kio he also went out but boarded again in a different mrt door where it was more crowded so I guess he can start doing his dirty game unnoticed again. Girls please be cautious of perverts like this guy!!

I regret not speaking up but I hope that this can at least warn others to not hesitate and to speak up to stop it if they see something like this again.

Dear TRS, I Got the Info about LKY's 'Death' from Ex-NMP Calvin Cheng

Dear TRS,

As everyone should know by now, there was many fake reports on social media about Lee Kuan Yew's death this afternoon.

I was also fooled by the doctored screenshot for a while. Actually, I was fooled by the screenshot which had been uploaded by Former NMP Calvin Cheng. He uploaded it to his public page and earlier changed his profile picture to black.

As a former NMP, he has quite some authority and can influence the public to a certain extent so his sharing of this also makes the situation worse.

Worse still, it is highly hypocritical as he has always been criticising alternative news site for the falsehoods that they share. He is actually no better!

Before about 8pm, he changed his profile picture to black:

Then he uploaded the fake screenshot:

Another netizen also noticed it and critcised him for it too:

Most recently, he even posted a photo of a Singapore flag flying at half mast saying that it was standing vigil over LKY, even after the screenshot was already clarified to be fake!

He posted so many death-related updates one after another on his public page which has quite a following. He certainly fooled me for a while I am sure there were many other who also got confused because of him.

This Calvin Cheng has always brainlessly attacked alternative websites and blamed them for hate and lies and drawn ridiculous connections before too:

Seriously, what a hypocrite! When he continues to use his PUBLIC page to propagate falsehoods too!

He has even been investigated for price fixing before. How can such a person be Nominated to be an MP?

Is Our Police Force and MHA Truly Prepared for the Unexpected?

$
0

Many will be like me so very pissed off by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Singapore Police Force (SPF) for their recent refusal to grant the license to the Future Music Festival event and the subsequent cancellation of the event.

For whatever reason MHA and SPF hold for their refusal, it remains exclusive only to themselves, for their rejection can only be seen as their incapability, incapacity, inertness and inaction to exercise their roles and responsibilities.

This refusal to grant license to the Future Music Festival is disastrous. It is even worse than censorsorship. It is an annihilation of what is already a sad state of our local music scene. They had just cut out the future of our music endeavour.

While SPF proudly display in their website (www.spf.gov.sg) their “shared vision” of what not “Courage”, “Loyalty”, “Integrity”, “Fairness”, we tell them they can sleep on it:

“Courage- we are willing to risk our lives...”: While action encourages confidence and courage, Inaction breeds doubts and fear. There is really no attempt to conquer fear or to build courage, or to put themselves into the test, but only to cower.

“Loyalty- we are loyal to the nation, to the Home Team, to the SPF community and to our own beliefs and ideals”: Indeed, a submission to inaction, loyal to their own kind of ideals – stay in their comfort cove, don’t sweat.

“Integrity”- “we never forsake our ethics in order to attain our objective. Our actions are guided by our principle… “: Their principle may very well be ‘Hear nothing, See nothing, Say nothing.’

“Fairness- We are fair in the dealings with people…”: The Hong Lim Park saga and the interrogation of the activists has certainly cast doubts on any fair handling by SPF.

Now, even MHA (www.mha.gov.sg) has their “Core Values“ : “Honour- we will always carry out our mission with honour- guided by the values of bravery, impartiality, integrity and the moral courage to do the right thing even in the face of personal danger and adversity…” : Perhaps “to do the right thing” is to do nothing.

Given this kind of mentality in the part of the SPF and MHA, we ask: How are they going to gain operational ground experience? How are they going to test their preparedness and readiness? How are they going to face more difficult challenges? How are they to face more severe adversity?

Tags:
Wrap Text field:

And f**k- what is this crap by the government wanting Singapore to be an Art Hub? How is the Singapore music scene going to mature? How is music development going to reach the international or even the regional platform? And what is this talk about supporting local artists?

While we do not understate the risk and inconvenience in this Music event, the decision for not allowing it to happen is totally not acceptable: The event is an anticipated event; the programs in the event are stipulated, the target audience is known, the location of event is determined. We are not talking about abstractions, not anything like the unexpected Little India riot.

We have a police force that upholds what not Courage, Loyalty, Integrity, and Fairness. We have a MHA that includes the ISD, SCDF, ICA, SPS, CNB under its powerful Arm. If they can’t handle or not willing to face the challenge to handle an anticipated event, at an anticipated location, of an anticipated activity, with an anticipated crowd, they are certainly not ready to hand a becoming population of 6.9m.

In all exasperation and infuriation, to SPF we tell them: sit, stay, don’t move, don’t move your butt, don’t move your body- nothing will happen, because you would not allow anything to happen. Thank you, you have just stopped the world from running. Let your cardboard policemen do the job.

To MHA we tell them: You better stay Home, it is safer there, put a hood over your head and tuck your so-called “Core Values” under your Armpit.

A dog was left in a car for over 40 minutes in the sun with all the windows closed.

The car, a Honda Civic with registration number SFU9347J, was parked in an outdoor carpark at Holland Village.

A passer-by noticed the dog inside the car and alerted police to the incident as he was concerned that the dog might suffocate to death.

Sharing a video of the incident, he explained that the afternoon sun was still up and the windows were all closed.

After calling the police, they arrived within 10 minutes but they had to search for the owner of the car and they only tracked him down 40minutes later.

Please Be Careful of this Extremely Rude and Uncaring Bridal Company!

Dear TRS,

Writing this as a warning to all future couples who are looking for a bridal studio package. Bridal concept is the worst studio ever. With just 3 months to our wedding and three days before our photoshoot day, bridal concept literally cancelled our package with them and literally chased us away leaving us all stranded after we pointed out to them their shortcomings! I can't imagine any bridal studio doing such a thing to any couples.

Me and my Fiancée signed up for a wedding package with bridal concept at an exhibition at expo. When we signed up for the package, the salesgirl promised us so many different services to be included in our package and even showed us an array of suits and gowns from the catalogue which we could use for our photo shoot and on our wedding day. However, when we went for our fitting, we were taken aback to see that we were given only about 2-3 suits for the groom to select from. When we expressed our discontent, all they did was to mix and match the Blazers with the vests and pants from all different suits which made the groom look more like a clown. They even charged us extra for a night shoot or to have an assistant to accompany us for the photoshoot day which was all already promised to us beforehand. Their choice of wedding gowns were extremely limited and all the white gowns looked so faded like it was worn many times and unwashed.

Tags:
Wrap Text field:

What was worse was not only how they couldn't give us what they had promised but repeatedly kept saying, "if you not happy, you can just cancel and take your refund and go off." Cecilia, the lady who was serving us was extremely rude to us and wasn't willing to help us in anyway. She even walked off several times when we were trying the gown leaving us to handle the fitting all on our own.

And finally, when we brought up the issues to the bigger boss Tony, instead of helping us to resolve our issues, he just took out his cheque book in the midst of our conversation and wrote a cheque for the amount we paid them and told us to go find another bridal studio in an extremely arrogant way! We were in utter shock!

We wasted months of our time at this studio traveling back and forth for all our fittings and choosing of gowns only to have it all go to waste and put us in a fix just 3 months before our wedding.

Just want to warn all future to-be-weds to never trust bridal concept with your big day as they are capable of ruining it all for you. They are focussed more on money making but not at all on achieving customer satisfaction or keeping their couples happy for their big day. Which is rather ironic for a bridal studio.

They are located at bugis, 16A Liang Seah street. Please save yourself all the trouble and don't ever go there.

When the EZ-Link Card System Fails to Count Transfers, Bus Companies Profit

Good day

I had written in more several months ago to SBS transit to ask about the incident  on 18/11/14 that I had been charge new trip instead of transfer when connecting bus/MRT. Affected Me and my 2 children card.

My 2 children card tap upon exit were not captured and they were charged full price for the last trip. SBS call me to enquire for more details which I had provided. And i had not heard from them since.

0n 22/12/14,

I had done transfer within the travel transfer limit of 45 mins and with 2 hour for total journey. Transfer rebate was not recorded.

on 27/12/14

Again we were charged new trip instead of transfer when we boarded the bus. Upon exiting, our exiting tap were not captured again. I am confident that we tap out and yet it affected me and my children (total 3 cards)

I am not after any loose change refund, but the query is: is there any means that the service provider employs to check the integrity of ez link system?

In slightly over a month that i monitor since alerted to this issue, i see over 7 lapses of instances and it affected different cards at different time on different buses.

I am quite sure it was not human error such as forget to tap out but the lapses persist.

(On 18/11/14, as it was past midnight, my daughter was aly sleeping on the bus and I tap out her card for her)

If is was indeed system error, how long had this been going on? and may I assume the transport had unduly profited from the masses of million communters daily?

Starhub's Blatant Disregard for the Lemon Law

$

Dear all,

I will like to share my disappointment with Starhub and how it totally disregarded the law in Singapore.  I recontracted my mobile services at the starhub shop in vivo city and purchased a new phone (Samsung Note 4). Three days later, I started to use the phone and tried to migrate my contacts. Shortly into my task, I noticed that the right half of the display is faulty. Immediately I went down to the same starhub shop I purchased the phone from (@ vivo city). After a one and a half hours of wait, I was shocked by the service personnel saying that they will not bear any responsibility for the phone and refered me to samsung. I requested to see the manager and while waiting, I started to google about the lemon law in singapore.

The manager arrived shortly and told me that they can do nothing about the phone and that I have to go to the samsung service centre. He said that I checked the phone during collection and it was fine at that point, hence starhub has delivered on its sales. I quoted the lemon law at this point in time and they insisted that it is no longer their responsibility. Here i quote a passage from the FAQ for the lemon law:

More Clarity on Burden of Proof and Rights Period: Under the Lemon Law, if a defect is detected within 6 months, it is presumed that the defect existed at the time of sale or delivery and the lemon law provisions apply, unless the seller can prove otherwise.

My new phone is not even 1 week old and they refused to take any responsibility for it. They insisted that I have checked the phone before collection. Dear all, how are we supposed to check for ALL functions within our time there? Perhaps everyone buying the phone should stay there for 2-3 hours and test their phone thoroughly. I called CASE about this issue and they said I need to go to the service centre to find out what is wrong first. That statement is a direct contrast to the quote above. Let me quote another passage:

Tags:
Wrap Text field:

Even under existing laws, retailers cannot deny the consumer his rights to remedies under the proposed law, for example by simply displaying a notice saying, “we do not give refunds under any circumstances” or that “an item has been sold as it is”.

Based on the above passage, can Starhub just write a clause and deny all responsibilites? Another quote below.

Q10: Who is responsible for providing repairs/ replacement/rescission/ discounts under the new Lemon Law regime? Is it theretailer, distributor or manufacturer?

A10: Contractual liability only binds the parties to the contract. If it was the retailer who entered into a sales contract with the consumer, the retailer will be directly responsible for the exchange/refund/discounts arising from non-conformity of the goods supplied with the contract.

The quote above clearly states the responsibility lies with starhub and not samsung but the manager kept insisting it is not their responsibility. The next morning, I called 1633, the starhub helpline. The lady attending to me said that I have to go to samsung service centre. When I quoted again the lemon law, she said the instructions she was given by the company was to direct to the manufacturer. Once again, when I called CASE, they were actually aligned with Starhub, saying that starhub do not do repairs, hence I have to go to samsung service centre. Again a direct contrast with the above quote.

End of the day, I sort of know that I will probably have to settle for a repaired or refurbished set in place of my BRAND NEW phone. It just saddens me that laws in Singapore are for show and not able to address consumer issues. I will like to remind all starhub customers that there are no exchange policies (pertaining to mobile phone, direct quote from the manager) in Starhub and that you should check your phone very thoroughly (try to spend a few hours there on top of the waiting time) before signing off. Lastly, forget about the lemon law...in this sense, starhub is the same as the Jover Chew guy in Sim Lim. Let's hope Singtel will be better (will update in two years time.)

Regards,

Frustrated Starhub customer

Dear TRS, the PDPC and Do Not Call Register is Flawed!

Dear TRS,

I signed up on the Do Not Call Registry because I am sick of spam messages but it has not fully helped.

I received SMS'es from employment agencies and I do not have any affiliations or subscriptions with them. I replied with "un" and i have been greeted with more SMS'es. I even called the company to voice my displeasure and was greeted by a foreign operator stating that they are within the safe boundaries of PDPC and not listed within the DNC Registra.

Yeah.. she was kinda cocky about it as well... She probably already knew her rights.

Apparently, employment and recruitment spam does not fall into the DNC registra and it's all legal and good.

"As the DNC provisions focus on telemarketing messages targeted at consumers, certain types of messages (such as messages offering you employment) are excluded." Tony Tan’s Propaganda about our History is a Joke

$
0
0

PAP should cease wasting tax dollars on its propaganda because it is no longer effective in the internet age.

This is also an insult to citizens and will invite even more ridicule. Unless PAP doesn’t mind becoming a laughing stock.

How ineffective is propaganda? Just listen the the nonsensical factual errors spouted by our taxpayer-funded President Tony Tan about Lee Kuan Yew.

He began his speech by claiming “….Yesterday, we lost the founding father of Singapore, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.”

According to Wikipedia, the “founding of modern Singapore” was between “1819 – 1826”, at least 196 years ago. Lee Kuan Yew was only 91 when he died so Lee couldn’t have qualified to be even the founding father of modern Singapore.

Source

Going a little further back, “the written history of Singapore dates back to the third century”, some 1800 years ago. Is Lee a reincarnation then? Why was Tony Tan so certain about Lee being the founding father of Singapore?

Whichever way one looks at his statement, Lee is not, and never will, be the founding father of Singapore. Perhaps PAP considering editing our school history books?

Tony: “Mr Lee Kuan Yew dedicated his entire life to Singapore.” Lee was able to ‘dedicate’ his entire life because the PAP had instilled fear in citizens by imprisoning and bankrupting political opponents, constantly gerrymandered and implemented the GRC system, abused the civil service and grassroots, etc to perpetuate its power. Without the GRC system, who would have voted for those PAP clowns which helped PAP to remain in power? Serving the people was only incidental.

This can be confirmed by Lee who once said, “If nobody is afraid of me, I’m meaningless”. Lee’s objective has always been to instill fear in order to gain total control. That gave meaning to his life. By pricing ‘dedication’ at million$, it appears to be more of a rip off. What do you think?

Tony: “He rallied colleagues, built up a capable civil service and led the founding generation of Singaporeans to achieve this vision.” But from our experience of PAP-created issues, we know that Tony was trying to take us for a ride. It was true during the first couple of decades with competent men assisting Lee but certainly not with clowns during the past 3 decades. Questions for Tony Tan:

– The majority of Singaporeans are not able to retire despite having a ‘capable’ civil service tweaking our CPF for decades. Was this Lee’s vision?
– Ordinary citizens, mostly dual income families, require 25 to 30 years to pay off their last HDB mortgage installment. Another one of Lee’s vision?
– The civil service is devoid of any idea to generate economic growth other than by increasing foreign labour/foreigner population. Did Lee contribute to building up such a ‘capable’ civil service?
– Three decades ago, the PAP told Singaporeans our HDB flats were our assets. Was it Lee’s vision that most citizens would have to sell our assets to fund our retirement?
– Almost 55,000 Singaporeans have to eke out a living as cleaners and thousands more as security guards in our ‘wealthy’ country. Was this Lee’s vision?

But we certainly know what a ‘capable’ civil service has done ie profit from citizens from public housing, public healthcare, COE, GST, fees, etc. Did Lee have any part in building up such a ‘capable’ civil service?

Tags:
Wrap Text field:

Tony is right to state that “many of his (Lee’s) ideas for Singapore live on”. These brilliant ideas include muzzling free speech, control of the civil service which could be used against opposition parties, the use of lawsuits against citizens, etc. Lee’s idea was to do whatever the PAP wants, never mind what the people think.

Tony: “Mr Lee’s passing is a great loss to all of us”. Try telling this to fellow citizens who were jailed without trial. Lee’s passing is a great loss to only those who had benefited disproportionately from Lee’s system of total control.

Tony says we should continue building on Lee’s “legacy” without objectively defining what has been left behind by Lee. Is it a political system which has been corrupted by greed? One which parliamentarians are blind to the elephant in the room?

Giving credit where credit is due to Lee Kuan Yew is fine. But Tony should know this is not the time to joke about our history.

I am a Singaporean but Can't Purchase a BTO Flat!!

$
0
0

Regarding housing where the government had advised that they are building more BTO flats so that Singaporeans have a place to call their own. Sadly this is not the case for me a born and breed Singaporean!

I am 34yrs old married and a mother of two kids a girl age 13 (born out of wedlock when I was not married yet) and a son age 4 whose father is my husband. I have never bought a house before and had never taken any concessionary HLE with HDB. However, I still can't buy a simple 3-rm flat for my kids to call HOME, talk about being a Singaporean in now a modern country!

I got married in 2006 when my daughter was only 4yrs old. As my husband had previously taken HLE twice because on both occasions, he bought 2 flats with his mother, I could not purchase any flat with him unless I take a bank loan and buy from "open market". I am unable to do so as it's expensive to buy a flat from open market and I need to put a upfront deposit to the bank which I do not have. My husband at that time in the 1980s and 1990s had no choice but to buy a flat because his father and step-father had passed away and his siblings were young and dependent on him including his mother, his elder siblings at that time were all married and having their own family. Hence, he had to buy a flat with his mum and later downgraded to a smaller flat. Therefore, he bought and took up concessionary HLE from HDB twice. Due to this I am unable to buy a flat with him which is totally unfair rules here because I had never bought a flat before, furthermore the last flat which my husband sold was more than 15years ago and he did not get a single cent from the sale proceeds as his mother took all to settle her debts. And because of this I have no choice but to rent a HDB flat.

Currently am living in a 1-rm rental flat and have been living there for almost 10yrs, previously was not able to get a 2-rm rental flat as I did not have a family nucleus. With the birth of my son in 2011 I am now on wait list for a 2-rm rental flat. However, I am still saddened by the fact that I am a Singaporean born and breed here but yet I am unable to buy a flat for my children who at times ask me why their friends have bigger house and why is ours so small. I feel depressed that I am unable to buy a simple 3-rm flat for my kids and when I look around at all the BTO flats that are built I begin to wonder if those flats have majority of Singaporeans or PRs living in it.

Living in these rental flats which were built many years probably some 30 to 40 years ago really is not a suitable place for kids to call their home, everything in the houses are peeling off, low ceiling, cramped space, uneven walls, toilet no window so no ventilation and flat infested with bed bugs no matter how much we clean and/or fumigate. And many other pest at times. I have desperately been to HDB seen my MP numerous times but yet I am unable to purchase a new flat. And I gave up as traveling up and down these places and getting the same answer NO.

I used to work as a Customer Relations Officer and grew my CPF to about 55k and now have been unemployed for almost 2yrs as I was previously caring for my young son whom I have since put into childcare and am actively finding for a job where it is so difficult to find one to cater to my timing as I have to fetch my son from childcare so location and working hours are very important. Even with quite a substantial amount in my CPF I still am unable to purchase a flat and my hopes were dashed even further when I found out that those aged above 55 cannot use their CPF to purchase a flat, my husband is 53yrs old this year.

I don't know how colorful some people (mainly foreigners) can describe about being a singaporean because for me as a singaporean I am stressed depressed and suffering. I clearly am desperate just to purchase a 3rm flat for my family is that so much to ask for? This is my country but yet I am not living happily & my children are deprived of a home just because of rules & regulations. Why can't HDB be flexible and bend the rules slightly to suit certain reasonable needs.

I don't know what else to do and at times I really want to give up. It's not really that great being a Singaporean afterall!!

Dear TRS, Some People Are Handing out Expired Drinks to Mourners

Dear TRS,

Today, I made my way down to Parliament House to pay my respects to Mr Lee Kuan Yew and received a bottle of free water from people who were handing them out.

I am thankful for the kindness which people are showing for those queuing up but I am worried if some companies are using this as a convenient way to clear old stock.

The bottled water that I received was best before October last year. It even had white marker to try and cover up the expiry date; this means that they are well aware that the product is old!

To all Singaporeans, please do be careful. My freebie water is probably fine even if it is a bit old but there are also people giving out snacks and food.

I hope they are not giving expired products too.

Overall though, I still appreciate that people are going out of their way to make the mourners more comfortable. It is still commendable!

Dear TRS,

I refer to your article "17YR OLD S'POREAN ACTOR REJOICES OVER THE DEATH OF LEE KUAN YEW"

A PAP grassroots leader who is a Christian has responded to the video in your article.

He felt offended because Amos Yee, the 17 year old in the video made an offhand remark about Jesus.

This made the grassroots leader so mad that he posted on his facebook page, threatening to slice off Amos Yee's penis as punishment for the blasphemy:

Don't you think a PAP grassroots leader who has won a long service award should know better than to make such unprofessional comments?

Saw this on the hardwarezone forum with all these pictures.

What impression is he giving to the residents he serves at Telok Blangah? Does being a grassroots leader entitle him to make such comments?

33 yr old PMET Remains Jobless Despite Sending over 500 Job Applications

Transitioning: First of all, thanks for allowing us to interview you online and can you provide us with some background information about yourself?

Bala: 33 year old Male -  born Singaporean. Jobless. Masters degree holder with 17 years working experience in total. 7 years Managerial experience in Accounts,IT,HR, Facility Management and Administration.

Transitioning: What was  your last occupation and you have told me that you were unemployed for a few months, can you tell us more about this and  also  your job search experience?

Bala: Accounts & Admin Manager. Unemployed for the 6th month. Got retrenched to cut cost.

Applied almost more than 500 jobs to various sites. None replied. Even went to MSF (previously CDC), but no use. Most of the PSD jobs I applied, I qualify above their requirement so I get rejected.

Transitioning: You have told me that you are currently jobless for more than six months, what did you do in order to survive? Did you also approach the CDC for assistance?

Bala: I applied for financial assistance which gives me $250 per month with an EZ link top of $50. I have pawned all my gold.

Past 2 months I have been paying partial bills and currently halted bank loans which has just been increasing the interest.

I have stopped going out. Most of the times I borrow $20-$50 from my girlfriend.

Transitioning: Did you attend any interviews  during the past few  months  and why do you think you are unsuccessful so far?

Bala: In the 6 months, I have attended 2 interviews only, but had lots of phone interviews.

Transitioning: Tell us abit more about what you have learnt from your jobless experience and how it has impacted your family.

Bala: This isn’t the first time I have been unemployed. I have learnt that as an Indian born in Singapore we have no respect and I hate to see all the foreigners sitting in on our jobs.

My house is currently supported by my 61 year old parent. I have no words to describe the current situation.

Transitioning: What do you think you could have done to shorten the unemployment period?

Bala:  I tried part time jobs, made calls, applied for tuition etc but however, after seeing my qualifications, I was given the reason “overqualified”. The government should see to the hiring situation here.

Transitioning: Do you think that Singapore is now a more difficult place to make a living?

Bala: Yes I do agree without thinking twice. First it is expensive, then there is an influx in foreigners. My list of unhappiness is extremely long…

Transitioning: What do you think the government can do to alleviate the current employment situation?

Bala: Send job applications to a government hire. MOM should stop taking in the foreigners to take up the jobs.

There is a long list of unemployed Singaporeans. Hire them first.

During calls to banks or telecom companies, staff who answer are now practically all foreigners.

Can’t understand what they say. Private companies should also come under the government. Hire people like me.

In my past company, 95% of the staff are foreigners and I totally understand how easy it is to hire them.

First ask MOM to go and check the bank statement of S Pass holders and see if the companies are really paying the stated amount.

I have many ideas but it cannot be emulated if I’m not in any authoritative post.

Transitioning: Many people have blame foreigners for competing jobs with us, what is your view on this?

Bala:  We do not expect a $10,000 salary but we expect a salary that matches the previous job.

We cannot be expecting a salary that is lower. Can anyone in the Ministerial position understand the expenditure level, housing payments, etc? We need a certain amount of salary in order to survive.

These foreigners do not bring their families here and don’t have any issues surviving. Top people in Banks are people from India! Why? Top people from telecommunication companies are white people!

Why? Is the government trying to say that Singaporeans are incapable?

Transitioning: Lastly, whats your advice for those who are still jobless and feeling down?

Bala: Leave Singapore. If I had the money I will leave this darn country.

There was a time I used to say I was from Singapore whenever I travel.

Nowadays when I say that, first thing I am asked is that if I am from India working in Singapore. I seriously hate being asked that.

There is no point looking for jobs in Singapore. 2 things -  first I am an Indian with family roots from Singapore getting least respect and being compared to b@#$%&d and next is don’t bother studying and staying in Singapore. A degree isn’t valid now.

Foreigners has no degree and yet they are preferred. Why?

Personal Identity stolen by foreigners.
