Every morning, I take the train from Ang Mo Kio MRT Station, carrying my three-year-old child. Without fail, an SMRT officer would guide me to the front of the queue.
I am thankful because she understands that I cannot be standing for long.
But things changed recently, when I was told that I no longer have that priority, and this applies to pregnant women, too. The officer explained that such priority is similar to queue-jumping.
I would expect a reputable corporation such as SMRT to show more compassion to commuters with children, pregnant women and the elderly, just as airlines do by allowing such passengers to board first.
If these commuters are given priority seats, why is there no priority queueing?
